Children’s Discovery Dinosaur Dig at Townsville STEM Faire

children's discovery dinosaur dig at townsville stem faire 2025

Townsville STEM Faire played host to our Dinosaur Dig experience on Saturday 30 August. This authentically recreated dig boasts a Site Office where participants receive their safety briefing and collect their palaeontology tools, and an ID Station where measurements and key information on recovered fossils are explored and recorded.

Around 1000 children and adults delighted in digging up fossils and bone reconstructions from the site which operated from 8am to 3pm. Asked what they thought about the experience, the kids all responded, “This is the best!”

Children’s Discovery also provided the ‘make-n-take’ discovery workshop resources offered at the STEM Faire. The library ran a ‘festival-edition’ of Little Bang Discovery Club engaging some 250 delighted 3-5 years olds with the joy of discovery. Please contact us if we can help elevate your festivals and events with exciting STEM experiences.
